“I aspire to make an impact, not just an income.”
I am a triathlete and endurance athlete trying to make this passion simultaneously fulfil my inner adventurer and explorer one foot or pedal stroke at a time!
At 29yrs old, I am among a generation that wants to be ‘comfortable’. Earn a comfortable wage in order to live comfortably. Whilst that might be ok for a lot of people, I’m convinced that there is something more, that there is something pretty spectacular just waiting on the other side of ‘comfortable’.
In the world of comfort, we measure our success by how much we earn and how many possessions we have, usually aiming for instant gratification. Surely that’s not the way to quantify or remember my life’s biggest achievements? I aspire to make an impact, not just an income.
There’s that old saying that ‘life is not about the amount of breaths we take, but the moments that take your breath away.’ So whilst we’re living our ‘comfortable’ lives, not challenging limits, not pushing boundaries, are we really living?
So here I am, approaching 30 and looking for something magical, looking for something more than a career, a wage packet and some possessions. I’m looking for an adventure, an opportunity to see what’s on the other side of comfortable when you allow yourself to let go of everything you know, everything you were taught to be true and just discover a world of possibilities when you head in to the elements and measure your success by the moments that take your breath away.
